1I lift my eyes up unto You—
To You enthroned in heav’n.
2As eyes of servants to their lord,
So will my gaze be giv’n.
Just as a maiden’s eyes look to
her mistress, whom she knows;
So our eyes look to the Lord God,
Till He His mercy shows.
3Have mercy on us, Lord, we pray,
For we’ve endured much scorn;
4Endured contempt from proud who scoff—
their ridicule we’ve borne.
