Psalm 149

76.76 D

1O praise the Lord and sing to the Lord a brand-new song;
Sing praise in the assembly of saints, where praise belongs.
2Let Is-ra-el rejoice in their Maker—let them sing;
Let all of Zion’s people be glad in their great King!

3Let them with dancing praise Him, with tambourine and song;
With harp, make praise and music which to His name belong.
4For God the Lord takes pleasure in those who are His own;
He crowns them with salvation, the humble ones alone.

5Let godly ones rejoice in this honor God bestows,
And let them sing for joy on their beds when eyelids close.
6May His praise fill their mouths, and a two-edged sword their hand,
7To execute God’s vengeance on nations through the land.

7/8They’ll bring God’s punishment on the peoples and their kings.
8To bind their kings with fetters—for them iron shackles bring
9to carry out the sentence, the judgment God accords.
This is His people’s honor, their glory—praise the Lord!
