Psalm 72

11.11.11.11

1O God, fill the king with Your justice anew,
And his royal son with Your righteousness, too.
2Then he’ll judge Your people in true righteousness,
And all the afflicted with justice he’ll bless.

3The people will flourish like mountains around,
And righteousness like fruit from hills will abound.
4For he will defend the afflicted and poor;
He’ll crush their oppressors who stand at their door.

5And he will endure for as long as the sun;
As long as the moon—through all ages that run.
6He’ll be like the rain falling on a mown field;
Like showers that water the earth, fruit to yield.

7In his days the righteous will flourish, stand sure,
Abundance abound till the moon is no more.
8From sea to great sea he will rule by his worth,
The river Euphrates to ends of the earth.

9The tribes of the desert will bow before him;
His enemies, too, will lick dust before him.
10The great kings of Tarshish and of distant shores
will bring to him tribute of great precious ores.

The kings of both Sheba and Seba are there,
Presenting him gifts of their kingdoms most fair.
11All kings of the earth will bow down to his fame;
All nations will serve him and honor his name.

12For he will deliver the needy who cry;
He’ll help the afflicted when no one is nigh.
13He will take great pity on both poor and weak;
The needy near death, he will save and will seek.

14He’ll rescue them from great oppression and might,
For their blood is precious and dear in his sight.
15O long may he live! Sheba’s gold pave his way;
Let people pray for him and bless him all day.

16Let grain in abundance abound through the land,
On tops of the hills sway, and fruitfully stand;
Its fruit be like Lebanon’s bountiful yield,
To flourish and thrive like the grass of the field.

17May his name forever endure like the sun;
All nations be bless’d through him—and bless that one.
18Now bless’d be the Lord, praise to Him let us bring—
To the God of Isr’el who does wondrous things.

19Praise be to His glo-ri-ous name for all days;
May all earth be filled with His glory and praise.
The Lord God of Is-ra-el, praise without end,
The whole earth will praise Him—Amen and Amen!
