Psalm 94

87.87 D

1O Lord God, the God of vengeance, who avenges, now shine forth.
2Rise up, Judge of all the earth, from east and west, from south and north.
Pay back to the proud the measure of their deeds that they deserve.
3How long will the wicked boast, Lord, and exult with pompous nerve?

4All their words are full of boasting, and they pour out arrogance.
5Lord, they crush, oppress Your people, those of Your inheritance.
6They slay foreigner and widow, kill the fatherless like weeds.
7They say, “For the Lord does not see; Jacob’s God—He pays no heed.”

8O you senseless, foolish people, when will you take heed, be wise?
9Won’t He hear who made the ear, and won’t He see who made the eyes?
10He who acts will strike the nations; He who teaches, won’t He know?
11The Lord knows the thoughts of man and how they ever futile grow.

12Bless-ed is the one You train, Lord, who You teach from Your own law;
13You’ll grant him relief from trouble, till in pits the wicked fall.
14The Lord won’t reject His people, nor inheritance forget;
15Righteous judgment will return and upright hearts will follow it.

16Who will rise up ’gainst the wicked? Who will take a stand for me?
17Lest the Lord had been my helper, I would dwell in death’s dark sea.
18When I said, “My foot is slipping”—Your love, Lord, supported me.
19When my soul was anxious in me, You brought solace, joy to me.

20Can corrupt thrones be Your partner, who use laws for misery?
21They conspire against the righteous, put to death those not guilty.
22But the Lord has been my fortress, and my rock in whom I trust;
23He’ll repay them for their evil; the Lord will turn them to dust.
