Psalm 115

87.87 D

1Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name glory be;
Because of Your lovingkindness, and Your truth shown faithfully.
2Why do nations ask in wonder, “Where’s their God? We don’t see Him.”
3Our God is in heaven, and He does whatever pleases Him.

4Their gods are of gold and silver; made by hands of men are they.
5They have mouths, but cannot speak; they’ve eyes, but cannot see the day.
6They have ears, but cannot hear, and noses but they cannot smell;
7They have hands, but cannot feel, and feet that can’t walk—know this well.

They can’t make a sound with their throat, cannot say a word at all;
8Those who make them will be like them, unable on God to call.
Everyone who trusts in idols will become like idols vain.
9House of Isr’el, trust the Lord; He does your help and shield remain.

10House of Aaron, put your trust in God the Lord, your help and shield;
11You who fear the Lord, so trust Him—He is all your help and shield.
12He remembers and will bless the house of Isr’el, Aaron, too.
13He’ll bless those who fear the Lord; the small and great alike, renew.

14May the Lord make you increase; both you and all your children, too;
15May you be bless’d by the Lord, the Maker of earth, heaven, too.
16For the highest heav’ns belong to God the Lord, to Him alone,
But the earth to man is given, to take care of as his own.

17It is not the dead who praise Him—those who down to silence go;
18It is we who praise the Lord, all those who His great name do know.
We will bless the Lord forever, from this time forevermore;
We, the living ones will praise Him; all who live now praise the Lord!
