Psalm 118

C.M. D

1O thank the Lord, for He is good—His love endures always.
2Let those of Is-ra-el now say, “His love endures always.”
3And let the house of Aaron say, “His love endures always.”
4Let those who fear the Lord now say, “His love endures always.”

5In my distress, I called the Lord, and He did answer me;
I cried in anguish, and He heard—from trouble set me free.
6The Lord is with me, ever sure; I will not be afraid.
For what is there that man can do, when I am on Him stayed?

7The Lord’s with me; He is my help against the enemy;
Therefore, upon all of my foes I’ll look triumphantly.
8It’s better far to trust the Lord than trust in man’s defense;
9To find your refuge in the Lord than trust in king or prince.

10The nations have surrounded me; they compass me about;
But in the Lord’s most holy name, I shall them all root out.
11They came around on every side; they compassed me about;
But in the Lord’s most holy name, I shall them all root out.

12They swarmed around me like fierce bees, like dry thorns set aflame;
They quickly died out, for I cut them off in the Lord’s name.
13They pushed me back so that I fell, but then the Lord helped me.
14The Lord is both my strength and song; and my salvation He.

15In dwellings of the righteous ones is heard the joyous shout:
The Lord’s right hand does mighty things, salvation brings about.
16The right hand of the mighty Lord is lifted up on high;
The Lord’s right hand does mighty things, and so I shall not die.

17I shall not die, but live and tell His works with every breath;
18The Lord has chastened me, but has not giv’n me o’er to death.
19Now open unto me the gates, the gates of righteousness;
Then I will enter and give thanks, and ever the Lord bless.

20This is the gate of the Lord God; the just shall enter there.
21I will give thanks—You answered me and my salvation prayer.
22That stone is made head cornerstone which builders did despise;
23This is the doing of the Lord, and wondrous in our eyes.

24This is the day the Lord has made; rejoice exceedingly.
25O save us, Lord; grant us success and send prosperity.
26For bless-ed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord;
From the Lord’s house, we bless you now—where blessing is outpoured.

27The Lord is God, and He has made His light on us to rise;
Bind to the altar’s horns with cords the festal sacrifice.
28You are my God; I’ll give You thanks, exalt You all my days.
29O thank the Lord, for He is good—His love endures always.
