Psalm 141

C.M. D

C.M.

1O Lord, I call upon You—do come quickly unto me;
O hear my voice when I call out, and hearken to my plea.
2May my prayer be fixed before You, like incense would suffice;
May lifting of my hands be like the evening sacrifice.

3Lord, set a guard upon my mouth, be watchful o’er my lips;
4Don’t let my heart be drawn to wrong, for easily it slips.
Let me not practice wickedness, nor join a wicked deed,
nor go with evildoers, or their delicacies heed.

5But let the righteous give reproof—it will be kindly said;
Let him rebuke me—it will be as oil upon my head.
I’ll not refuse it, but my prayer will ever still go out
against the deeds of wicked ones, who do their evil tout.

6Their rulers will be thrown from cliffs, and wicked ones will learn,
That my words were well spoken and they should not such words spurn.
7Then they’ll say, “As one plows the earth, so our bones there have been,
They have been scattered at the mouth of She-ol’s grave within.”

8But my eyes still are fixed on You, O Sovereign Lord of grace,
I take refuge in You; don’t give me over to death’s place.
9Keep me from snares they’ve laid for me; from where their traps do lie;
10Let wicked fall in their own nets, while I pass safely by.
